Cambridge and UCL ranked 2nd and 4th in top global rankings

Cambridge and UCL have taken two of the six top slots in the QS World University Rankings for 2011-12.

The two universities involved in the Centre for Photonic Systems Development are both ranked in the top 5 in the latest global university rankings produced by QS Research. UCL has now overtaken Oxford and Imperial so Cambridge and UCL are now ranked as the top two universities in the United Kingdom.

The QS World University Rankings are widely recognised throughout higher education as the most trusted international tables. The QS table is an annual ranking of the top 700 universities in the world and is compiled in close consultation with an international advisory board of leading academics. Four key items are taken into account in the QS rankings: research, teaching, employability and internationalisation.
